Talitha’s Photo Booth (Albuquerque, New Mexico wedding photo booth)

I can’t believe that I didn’t blog my photo booth after Alicia & Bryant’s beautiful September wedding outdoors! The weather was absolutely perfect on their wedding day and you can hardly even tell that the photo booth was set up outside. Alicia brought tons of props to help make the photo booth a huge hit with all of her guests. My trusty assistant and 2nd photographer, Scott Kingsley, did an amazing job handling the booth and making sure everyone had a great time & got amazing photos!

The backdrop for Alicia & Bryant’s photo booth is one of the several backdrop options that I have. I just added a gold sequin backdrop to the set and am so excited to use it!

Michael & Sarah’s winter wedding (Rt. 66 Casino Wedding)

Michael & Sarah’s wedding took place in the brand new St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church off of Paradise. Gorgeous light streamed in the high windows during the ceremony. That gorgeous light followed us through the day where we were able to get some amazing photos overlooking the city before heading to Rt. 66 Casino to get the party under way.

Congratulations to Michael & Sarah!

Harmony

Christmas is over (thank goodness!) and now I have a bit more time to finish up some of my personal photo projects. I posted a preview of my shoot with Harmony a few weeks ago. This shoot was a bit different for me in that my usual tricks with lighting weren’t working like I envisioned. The golden winter light was disappearing fast so I ended up using a different light source than I usually do. In the end, I really like the warm tones that came out of using the light from the modelling lamp of my alien bee. As the light died, I pushed my camera to the edge of its capability with aperture and ISO to get the last of the light out of the day. Sure the photos are a bit grainier than I usually do but I rather like it. Hope you enjoy!

JC & Julie’s growing family

A little Christmas cheer from JC & Julie’s super cute little family. Hotel Parq Central was super gracious to let me use their gorgeous hotel for the shoot.

It is always a little tricky working with little ones and getting them to smile or just sit still long enough to take photos. But the harder you work for something, the more rewarding it is. Little J was super cute looking at the Christmas tree and even throwing his little red ball around the hotel. One of my favorite shots of the day is of little J and daddy looking out the window holding hands. It was such a brief moment before little J was on the move again but thank goodness for a quick shutter finger.

Glamour on the road

Perhaps it is a bit early to post a preview image from my shoot with Harmony today but I don’t really care. Harmony and I met at the mall today to go on a shopping spree to find something fabulous to wear but got a little behind on the time in the middle of all this. Instead of making it all the way to our shooting destination we pulled off into the median on Rt. 66. Even though the sunset had some beautiful warm golden hues, the air was quite frigid. Harmony was such a good sport standing in the snow and jumping out of the way of oncoming cars. I love working with this girl!

Danie + Luis (Isaron Hall Wedding Photography)

On the day of Danie & Luis’s wedding, I had photographed the couple in 4 different states: New Mexico, California, Nevada, and Texas. It started with a lifestyle session in their home last year just before Thanksgiving where the house and yard were all decked out and ready for Christmas. Next was Disneyland for their engagement session and then Las Vegas for the bachelorette party. Getting to know Danie and Luis was so much fun. Their love for all things Disney is evident throughout their home and found its way into their wedding with a custom sign held by one of the ringbearers with “Here Comes the Bride” written on Cinderella’s glass slipper. It was at this moment as the ceremony began that was one of my favorites – just as Danie appeared to walk down the aisle I turned to photograph Luis’ reaction. His eyes got big and didn’t budge off of his gorgeous bride as he mouthed “wow.” Catching those little moments in between is one of the reasons I love photographing weddings. It is a ton of work and with all things that are difficult, there is also great reward. After posting the photos in their gallery, I received a message from Danie: “Just wanted to let you know, that after the wedding Luis and I were sooo broke that part of us wondered if we should have done it–but after looking at these photos, I’m so happy we did. So thank you so so much.” <3 Let me tell you….it was my pleasure! I adore the challenge and honor of being chosen as someone's photographer. In one day, I go from indoor photography, natural light, flash, macro (details/ring shots) photography, fast motion, low light, etc. I could go on, but I won't.

Enjoy a few photos from Danie & Luis' fall wedding.

Mark & Justine’s elegant wedding at Los Poblanos Inn & Cultural Center and San Felipe de Neri in Old Town

It was such a blessing to be able to with with Mark and Justine throughout their wedding day. Mark and Justine truly embody all the best aspects of what it is to be a New Mexican. One of their favorite past times is going for drives in Mark’s restored VW bus, Mark makes beautiful retablos during his spare time (in fact, you can see and buy his beautiful work at the annual Santa Fe Spanish Market), Justine is a school teacher, the couple attends catholic mass regularly. And to top it off, Mark proposed to Justine of a dinner of beans and red chile (much to Justine’s chagrin). Hey – an engagement over red chile is a major win in my book!

The setting for Mark and Justine’s wedding was at San Felipe de Neri Catholic church in Albuquerque’s Old Town and Los Poblanos Inn and Cultural Center. Tansy Floral Design Studio did an amazing job with the floral arrangements. Cutmaster Music ended the night for the guests and made sure that everyone had a great time.

The epitome of perfection – beautiful fall weather, New Mexico’s pastoral beauty, and the marriage of a beautiful couple.

This white peacock seemed to be waiting for the bride’s arrival. It was very nice of her to pose so nicely under that arch ;-)

Crystal’s Graduation Shoot – Downtown Albuquerque

Congratulations to Crystal is about to graduate from UNM’s Anderson School of Management! …and what a fabulous finance major she is! We had so much fun around downtown Albuquerque taking a few photos to commemorate her achievements. After we started shooting, I soon realized that didn’t have to direct & pose her very much – she’s just a natural in front of the camera! I definitely took advantage of that and we did some more daring photos. I still have to give some big kudos to Crystal posing for some smokin’ photos in that nasty alley though. Uhh…did you know that alley’s are used as bathrooms in a pinch? Just kidding. Still though – it was gross.

Enjoy!

Autumn Leaves

We are coming to the end of the autumn and I am not quite ready to let it go. As a photographer, the amount of portrait sessions I do during this time goes through the roof. It is no surprise though. Fall brings so many wonderful things: a new harvest, state & county fairs, Thanksgiving, the feel and smell of fallen leaves under foot, Halloween, and a chance to cool off from the unrelenting heat of summer.

I am a bit late in posting these. Better late than never though! Enjoy the last leaves of the season. :) These photos were taken around Silverton, CO.
